Buffett worked at the firm for two years, before being drafted into the Army for the Korean War.
Investing Career
After finishing his stint in the Army, Buffett returned to Omaha and resumed working at Buffett-Falk & Company. However, he soon grew tired of working for someone else, and decided to strike out on his own.
In 1956, Buffett formed an investment partnership with his friend, Ben Graham. The partnership was called Buffett Partnership, Ltd.
The partnership was a great success. Over the next decade, it achieved annual returns of 29.5%.
In 1965, Buffett began buying shares of Berkshire Hathaway, a struggling textile company. He eventually took control of the company, and transformed it into a massive holding company.
Today, Berkshire Hathaway owns a variety of companies, including GEICO, BNSF Railway, and Dairy Queen. It is one of the most successful companies in the world.
