Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White have been hitting the gym hard in preparation for their upcoming roles in the wrestling-themed sports biopic, “The Iron Claw,” from A24.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The newly unveiled trailer showcases their impressive transformations. Under the direction of Sean Durkin, the film delves into the world of the iconic Von Erich wrestling dynasty, with Efron portraying Kevin Von Erich, also known as the Golden Warrior, while White takes on the role of Kerry Von Erich, Kevin’s brother, and a heavyweight division contender. Holt McCallany stars as Fritz Von Erich, the family’s patriarch, and a three-time world champion.<\/span><\/p>\n

The movie explores the highs and lows of the Von Erich family members’ lives and their significant impact on the world of wrestling. Alongside Efron and White, the cast includes Lily James, Maura Tierney, Harris Dickinson, and Stanley Simons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the trailer’s release, both Efron and White made headlines for their remarkable physical transformations. Efron’s muscular physique and Von Erich-inspired bowl cut became a source of social media amusement, while White shared his goal of adding 40 pounds of muscle to his role.<\/span><\/p>\n

This project signifies a departure from Efron’s previous work in musicals and comedies, following his role as Ted Bundy in “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.” Jeremy Allen White, known for his beloved characters in long-running series like “Shameless” and his role in FX’s “The Bear,” is venturing into a new dramatic challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n

Writer-director Sean Durkin, renowned for his critically acclaimed psychological dramas like “The Nest” and “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” is steering this project. The Von Erich family, celebrated for their wrestling achievements, also faced a series of personal tragedies, with five of Fritz Von Erich’s six sons passing away before the age of 33, including three by suicide.<\/span><\/p>\n
