In a recent development, Disney Channel has officially greenlit the production of a pilot for a sequel series to the immensely popular “Wizards of Waverly Place.” The original series’ star, David Henrie, is set to both star in and executive produce the potential show. Selena Gomez, another original star, will appear in the pilot and serve as an executive producer.<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The sequel series will see David Henrie reprising his role as Justin Russo, while Selena Gomez will once again portray Alex Russo. Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos are joining the cast. The storyline unfolds after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult, Justin Russo, has forsaken his wizard powers to lead a normal human life with his wife (played by Gianopulos) and two sons (one portrayed by Thiele).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the narrative takes an unexpected turn when a powerful young wizard (Brown) in need of training arrives at Justin’s doorstep, compelling him to confront his past for the sake of the Wizard World’s future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, known for co-creating the Disney sequel series “Raven\u2019s Home,” are writing and executive producing the pilot. Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Gary Marsh, and Andy Fickman are also on board as executive producers, with Fickman directing the pilot.<\/span><\/p>\n

The original “Wizards of Waverly Place” aired for four seasons from 2007 to 2012, becoming one of Disney Channel’s most beloved shows. The series’ success also led to the production of the original Disney Channel movie “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives for Gomez include Lighthouse Management + Media, WME, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, while Untitled represents Henrie.
