Aber

From the Willy-Brandt-Platz quickly reach, but that raises, which neither restaurant, nor bar wants to be, already on entering interesting questions. The clean and textured interior, decorated in dark gray tones, invites you to an intimate dinner in small booths. The large windows and high ceilings entice you to a bar evening with friends. The joke of the name that is not to be classified is intentionally ironic and is also reflected in the menu and the idea behind the concept of the modern pub, because that is how it describes itself best, against

Baroque Bar

From the outside, one could almost think it had closed: A large window foil prevents the unobstructed view of the interior of this small, cozy red bar. As we enter, we are surprised – there is no map, mixed on request, Instead of a classic, we order what we feel like doing right now. It should be fruity and not too sweet. And of course with a good shot of alcohol. What mixes the charming bar woman for every 7 euros, convinced? By candlelight and delicious drinks we end the evening.

Chinaski

A sort of living room for the generation between the late 20s and late 40s, which, as Smith himself, loves good wine and good conversation, still craves for danced nights, but finds the classic over 30s terrible, is the Chinaski. The interior of the vaulted cellar in the Taunusanlage is rough yet chic: The plastered walls were sprayed by graffiti artists to Smith, most of the rooms are occupied by a nine-meter-long bar; the self-designed furniture cites the Bauhaus style and has one light 60s touch. The menu features quality wines and sophisticated cocktails. The DJs play, depending on the mood of the guests, sometimes slow house beats mixed with jazz strumming, sometimes danceable boogie and electro.
Incidentally, the bar club is named after Henry Chinaski, the alter ego of Charles Bukowski, who is played in the film “Barfly” by Mickey Rourke.
“Chinaski is for me the epitome of consistent anti-heroism, living the moment it comes and being authentic,” says Julian Smith.
