Country icon Toby Keith at people’s choice award shares ups and downs of his cancer journey.
Country music star Toby Keith, honored with the Country Icon Award at the People’s Choice Country Awards on September 28, has provided an update on his battle with stomach cancer, a diagnosis he received in 2021.
Keith, who had previously mentioned in June that his tumor had significantly reduced in size, shared, “I am feeling pretty good.” He further said, “It’s a little roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you’re up and down, up and gown. It’s always zero to 60 and 60 to zero, but I feel good today.”
At 62, Keith had even more reason to celebrate as Keith shared,” It’s nice to recognize my 30-year career.” He expressed gratitude for the recognition and described it as a genuinely astonishing milestone.
His proudest achievement, Toby Keith, known for the iconic “Red Solo Cup,” expressed that it’s his songwriting that he holds most dear.
As he walked the red carpet with his wife, Tricia Lucus, he reflected on the years of dedication to crafting songs, each with its unique origin story, a truly fantastic journey.
While he’s gearing up to perform “Don’t Let the Old Man” from the Clint Eastwood film “The Mule,” there’s a promise of even more sensational moments to look forward to.
