Meta’s suite of social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, encountered significant technical difficulties lasting over two hours on Tuesday. Thousands of users reported problems accessing the services, with many experiencing issues logging in and encountering error messages.
Numerous users faced challenges accessing Meta’s platforms on Tuesday, as both Facebook and Instagram encountered widespread technical issues. Reports surged around 10:25 a.m. ET on March 5, Downdetector received over 500,000 error reports by 10:40 a.m. ET. Approximately 76% of the issues reported by Facebook users were related to login difficulties.
Instagram users also encountered problems, including an inability to refresh their feeds and difficulties posting content. The outage extended to Meta’s Messaging platform and Threads, an app similar to Twitter.
