On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated Jacksonville 17-9 after overcoming three turnovers in the game. During the match, Travis Kelce returned and received a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes.
This victory marks the Chiefs’ third win against the Jaguars in the last 10 months and their eighth consecutive win in the series. Additionally, the Chiefs avoided becoming the first Super Bowl champions to start 0-2 since Denver in 1999.
Before the game, the Jaguars claimed they were owed a victory after losing to the Chiefs in January’s divisional round of the AFC playoffs. However, their performance in their home opener was lackluster.
Coach Doug Pederson’s team failed to take advantage of two of three turnovers and struggled to protect quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Despite being down by eight points with 4:16 left on the clock, the Jaguars failed to make a comeback.
Lawrence threw incomplete on a fourth-and-12 play, and Kansas City did not allow the Jaguars to get the ball back. Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones, who made his season debut after ending his holdout and signing a one-year contract, dominated his one-on-one matchups.
